OPEN SPACE COMMITTEE

Hidden Springs Idaho is a planned community on 1,844 acres in the Dry Creek Valley.  Under the terms of the Hidden Springs Idaho Planned Community Ordinance (Section 8-21A-5E), no less than 810 acres of Hidden Springs Idaho property, designated as the “Open Space Area” are to remain open and free from development other than wildlife habitat improvement, trails and other recreational improvements, agriculture and agricultural operations and outbuildings.  As of 2008, approximately 988 acres in Hidden Springs Idaho are designated as natural open space subject to the terms of a Conservation Easement (CE) held by Ada County.  Fifty-nine (59) acres of natural open space off Cartwright Road are not held in the CE.  The plan divides the CE lands into five areas:

Wetlands  |  Dry Creek Corridor  |  Currant Creek Corridor  |  Uplands  |  Farm and Orchard

The Open Space Committee is a volunteer committee of Hidden Springs Idaho residents reporting to the Town Council.  The committee is responsible for advising HSTA and the Town Council on matters pertaining to open space management in the community.

Are you interested in becoming a member of the Open Space Committee?  Feel free to contact the HSTA office or attend an upcoming Open Space Meeting held the first Tuesday of every month in the Community Clubhouse starting at 6:00pm.

RIDGE TO RIVERS

By working cooperatively with Ridge to Rivers, a number of trail opportunities have been created in the Dry Creek Valley. Try starting and ending at the Merc where you can pick up a picnic or finish with a cool beverage. There are even more trails planned within this community so stay tuned for even more fine trail experiences.

Red Tail Trail and associated side spurs:

This is the main trail that leaves from Dry Creek Trailhead and then climbs to the ridge above, eventually crossing two neighborhood roads and dropping to Currant Creek. A long climb will then take you to a high point for great views of Stack Rock and beyond. Try this trail as an out and back as well since the views and experience changes in each direction.

Please Note – This public trail is on private land. Please respect all closure and adjacent landowners by using only the marked trails. Your cooperation will make it easier to create more trails elsewhere.

Trailhead Parking:

A large trailhead parking area is located along Dry Creek Road, adjacent to the community of Hidden Springs Idaho.
