WILDFIRE MITIGATION EFFORTS 2023
There are a number of risk factors for homes in the wildland urban interface (or WUI). The WUI refers to the zone of transition between unoccupied land and human development. The lands and communities adjacent to and surrounded by wildlands are at increased risk of wildfires. In June, you will see Hopkins Evergreen crews trimming HSTA open space property adjacent to resident lots to help with the HOA’s wildfire mitigation efforts (9 acres). This specific trimming is done once a year versus turf mowing, edging and trails which are addressed multiple times each growing season (total of 57.1 acres). Hopkins will be following guidelines and safe practices for trimming per the City of Boise Foothills Restoration Specialists, Idaho Firewise and the Boise Fire Department.
PLAN PREPARE PROTECT 6/10/23 11am-1pm
Eagle Fire and Charlie Baun, ECS Services and Open Space consultant for Hidden Springs and Cartwright Ranch, will share tips on how to plan, prepare and protect your home including a burn demonstration to illustrate how landscape plant selection directly impacts your vulnerability. Come out and meet the firefighters at Station #5, learn how to protect your family as well as reduce wildfire risk in our community, plus free lunch for the first 150 participants!
WILDFIRE FUEL REDUCTION 6/12/23
Wildfire doesn’t have to burn everything in its path. In fact, cleaning your property of debris and maintaining your landscaping are important steps to help minimize devastating damage and loss. The Hidden Springs Town Association, Open Space and Firewise Committee will again be hosting a fire fuel’s reduction project for this year’s Firewise/Wildfire Preparedness Project to meet Firewise recertification requirements. Call or email the Town Office (208-229-2326) or hsta@hiddensprings.com) by END OF DAY June 11th to register for the event and then, get to work! On Monday, June 12th residents who registered will benefit from complimentary curbside pick-up of debris.

The Jr. Site Crew Team members will be assigned tasks in the community farm to help with weeding and maintenance of the area. Applicants must be residents in Hidden Springs and 15+ years old. Interested, please email hsta@hiddensprings.com to schedule an interview.
SPEEDING AND NO PARKING
Summer is here and with the kids out and about and families headed to the pools, we wanted to remind everyone to slow down and to be mindful of No Parking Signs. Extra caution and slower speeds are appreciated. Emergency response vehicles (police, fire and ambulance) require public street access in the event of an emergency. On street parking on the “No Parking” side of the street has the potential to hinder an emergency vehicle’s ability to move along a roadway and increase response time in providing critical care.
TOWN DESIGN REVIEW IMPROVEMENTS & REVIEW DATES
Reminder, ALL proposed exterior improvements (new or changes to existing) to home and landscaping must be reviewed and approved by the Town Design Review Board per the governing documents, Residential Design Guidelines, Section 5.0 and Master Declaration of Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions 6.1 and 10.47. This is not a new and has been a requirement since the governing documents were drafted in 1997. Save yourself the added expense of having to remove or redo an improvement. The Town Design Review Board meets monthly with the next meetings scheduled for 7:00am on 6/13, 7/11 and 8/15. Find review dates and forms on the website under Community/Town Design Review Board.
